We know that at least 513,000 women and girls have experienced or are at-risk of undergoing FGM/C in the United States. In the U.S., there still remains misconceptions that FGM/C doesn’t happen here. In addition, FGM/C intersects with numerous other issue areas including reproductive health and justice, immigrant rights, gender-based violence, child abuse and neglect, women’s health, and more. Yet, FGM/C prevention and services often gets overshadowed and de-prioritized by these larger movements. 

The event will feature prominent experts in the field, including Susan Gibbs from Wallace Global Fund and Anush Aghabalyan from Orchid Project, who will share their insights and experiences. We believe that with collective effort and sustained commitment, we can achieve the goal of ending FGM/C in our lifetime.
