The FGM/C Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Team is a collaborative between George Washington University, The U.S. End FGM/C Network, Sahiyo U.S., and Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation. Collaboratively, the FGM/C TTA team is working to address female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C), which is estimated to impact about half a million girls and women in the United States (U.S.). Our TTA team comprises experts and advocates with years of experience working on FGM/C prevention programming, survivor support services, storytelling, and more. This webinar was recorded on October 23, 2024 and was a training session to bring awareness and understanding of FGM/C being practiced in the United States of America. It was a collaboration between the Department of Justice Office of Violence Against Women, Sahiyo, George Washington University, The U.S. End FGM/C Network, and Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation.

Framing FGM/C in Providing Services, Public Perception, and Advocacy

This webinar was recorded on January 23, 2025. This training introduces key strategies for GBV service providers to frame conversations around FGM/C, focusing on how the way we discuss and represent the issue can influence public perception, advocacy, and community engagement. Participants will gain actionable insights into “how -to” approaches that foster culturally sensitive collaboration with impacted communities, while balancing a commitment to human rights and health.

Understanding the US Legislative Landscape for FGM/C: Insights for Service Providers and Community Allies

This webinar was recorded on March 26, 2025. This training provided an overview of the legislative landscape related to anti-FGM/C policies on the national and state levels. In addition, participants walked away with concrete strategies for engaging in policy change and advocacy in FGM/C prevention and survivor supportive services.

Integrating FGM/C Awareness and Action into Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services

This webinar was recorded on June 17, 2025. This training introduced FGM/C, its connection to other forms of violence, and strategies for how organizations can build awareness and address FGM/C in their current programming. Participants gained insights into the cultural, social, and legal aspects of FGM/C, equipping them to better serve their communities and the survivors they work with.
