How We Make an Impact

The U.S. End FGM/C Network is a national, movement building, membership-based network working to eliminate female genital mutilation/cutting by connecting, supporting, elevating and advocating with diverse U.S. stakeholders engaged in prevention, education and care. This page outlines our work and clarifies what we do (and do not) provide.

What does the Network do?

We work to strengthen the movement to end FGM/C — we do not provide direct services to individuals.

Our core activities include:

Movement Building: we facilitate and promote collaboration, information sharing, and solidarity among members and partners to amplify collective impact. This includes providing opportunities for networking and community-building, supporting survivor leadership, and promoting cross-sectoral and cross-movement collaboration.

Training and Technical Assistance: we provide expert training and technical assistance to organizations, professionals and community leaders to help them prevent FGM/C and respond in culturally competent, survivor-centered ways.

Policy Advocacy: we advocate for comprehensive, holistic policies and protections on the state, national, and global levels to prevent FGM/C and improve systems that affect survivors, working with policymakers and partners to advance legislative and policy change.

While we do not manage or coordinate referrals, we are happy to share information about organizations and resources that offer direct support or services related to FGM/C when that information is available to us. If you are looking for information, please contact us at info@endfgmnetwork.org or by filling out our contact form.

Where are your activities focused?

The Network is a fully remote organization, with staff located throughout the United States. The Network’s primary focus is addressing FGM/C within the United States, and liaising between grassroots organizations in the U.S. and the broader, global movement. Although we do not implement any on-the-ground programs outside of the U.S., we remain a leader of the global movement to end FGM/C and support global advocacy campaigns alongside our global partners.
